I am an international teacher and lifelong learner.
My formal training is in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages and the natural sciences, and I currently teach English for Scientists as a fusion of my two strongest backgrounds.
In addition to English and science, I am interested in education in general and am always looking for new ways to share the interesting things I’ve learned in my own studies. Much of my experience is in curriculum design, and I often find myself deliberating the most effective ways to share complex topics with or teach games to my family and friends.
I’ve been teaching English in China for over 10 years, and I live in Suzhou with my wife and children. This makes intercultural communication an important part of my learning and teaching as well, and this is often a helpful way to give practical context to language skills in my English teaching and Chinese study.
I also have a musical side, with several decades of experience in both piano and trumpet, and I occasionally compose my own instrumental pieces.
